In 2015-2016 the Government made significant changes to primary assessment of pupils. Previous tests and level scores were removed and replaced with new tests which will measure children against nationally expected scores for reading, writing and maths. Pupils will need to score 100 on the new tests to be at the expected level. These test scores will be passed onto your child’s secondary school.
Within school assessment has also changed to reflect the national changes. Children in each year group are now assessed as either being beginning, within or secure with year group expectations. At Cowling we use Target Tracker to assess pupils. Parents and Carers can find helpful information for supporting their child within the bands section of our assessment page (Band 1 represents Year 1, Band 6 represents Year 6).
